Datenschutzerklärung
Stand: September 2026 (Version 2026-09.2)
2. Verantwortlicher
Verantwortlich im Sinne der Datenschutz-Grundverordnung (DSGVO) ist:
Quoc Khanh Nguyen (khanhsdesktop)
Scheibenstraße 15, 83278 Traunstein, Deutschland
E-Mail: [email protected]
Weitere Angaben finden Sie im Impressum.
3. Datenschutzbeauftragter
Privacy policy
Last updated: September 2026 (version 2026-09.2). This English text is a courtesy translation; only the German version is legally binding.
1. Overview
This privacy policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit khanhsdesktop.com, for what purposes and on what legal basis, and what rights you have. In short: this website uses no analytics, tracking or advertising services and builds no profiles. Personal data arises mainly for technical reasons when pages are loaded, and when you write to me through the contact form.
2. Controller
The controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Quoc Khanh Nguyen (khanhsdesktop)
Scheibenstraße 15, 83278 Traunstein, Germany
Email: [email protected]
Further details are in the legal notice.
3. Data protection officer
There is no obligation to appoint a data protection officer (Art. 37 GDPR, § 38 BDSG). If you have a question about data protection, please contact me directly.
4. Hosting and database
This website runs on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The server is located in Nuremberg, Germany. The database (MariaDB), which stores contact enquiries for example, runs on the same server. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Hetzner.
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running this website securely and reliably (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
5. Content delivery network and security service (Cloudflare)
I use the content delivery network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. All traffic between your browser and my server passes through Cloudflare's servers. To do this, Cloudflare processes your IP address, details of your browser and operating system, the address requested, and the date and time of access. The purpose is to deliver the pages quickly and securely and to fend off overload and abuse.
To detect automated traffic, Cloudflare may store the cookie __cf_bm on your device. This is strictly necessary for running the website securely and therefore does not require consent under § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG. The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
Because Cloudflare, Inc. is based in the USA, your connection data may be processed there. The transfer relies on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Cloudflare is certified, supplemented by the EU standard contractual clauses. More information: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
6. SSL/TLS encryption
For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” in your browser's address bar. Your browser's connection ends at Cloudflare (section 5); from there a separate encrypted connection runs to my server.
7. Server log files
Each request is automatically recorded in log files: IP address, date and time, address requested, amount of data transferred, status code, referrer URL, and browser type and operating system. This data arises both at Cloudflare and on my server. It is used to deliver the pages, to keep the service stable and secure, and to find faults. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
The log files are rotated continuously and kept for no more than 14 days. They are not combined with other data sources.
From these logs I also build an anonymous statistic, mainly to detect bots and attacks. Only coarse facts are kept: the day, the country (derived from the IP address by Cloudflare), the referring website (for example LinkedIn or Instagram), the device class, the browser language and whether the request came from a bot. No IP addresses, names or email addresses are stored for it. So that visits can be counted, my server makes a one-way key from the IP address and browser identifier together with a random value that changes every day and is deleted after 48 hours at the latest. The key cannot be traced back to you and cannot link one day to the next. No cookies are set for this and nothing is stored on or read from your device. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a secure and stable service (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
8. Storage in your browser (localStorage)
This website itself sets no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Some information is, however, kept in your browser's local storage (localStorage):
- Your choice in the storage notice. So that the notice does not return on every visit, your decision is stored with its date. This is strictly necessary (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG; Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
- Settings and saved work. Your language, display settings and whatever you create in the demo apps (for example drawings, cards on boards or settings). These entries are only stored if you agree in the storage notice (§ 25 (1) TDDDG; Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
These entries stay in your browser. If you also switch on “Measurement” in the storage notice, the desktop reports anonymously which apps are opened and how long they are in front (section 9); nothing is stored on your device for this. Without that consent, none of it is sent. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with effect for the future: with the “Cookies” tab in the desktop's taskbar, where you can also delete stored entries, or in your browser's settings.
9. Anonymous measurement, no tracking, self-hosted fonts
This website uses no third-party analytics or tracking services, no advertising networks and no social media plugins, and no profiling takes place. Your data is safe: no names, email addresses or IP addresses are stored for statistics, and none of it leaves my server. Details from the contact form never enter the statistics.
Measurement in the apps (only with consent)
Only if you switch on “Measurement” in the storage notice does the desktop send to my own server: that a visit happened (with the name of the referring website, if any), which app was opened and how long an app was in front. My server adds the country and the daily one-way key from section 7. No cookies are set and no identifiers are stored on your device. If your browser signals “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”, nothing is sent even with consent. The purpose is to understand which work draws interest. The legal basis is your consent (§ 25 (1) TDDDG; Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with the “Cookies” tab in the taskbar.
Bot detection and protection
Refused requests to the contact form and the sign-in, such as failed security checks or too many requests, are counted with the kind of event, the day, the country and the same daily key. This is how I recognise attacks and improve the defences (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Fonts and links
All fonts are served from my own server; loading the pages makes no connection to Google Fonts or any other font provider.
References to external profiles or websites (for example LinkedIn) are plain links. Data only reaches the provider concerned if you follow such a link.
10. Google Maps (driving school demo only)
The “drivingschool” demo app can show a map from Google Maps. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The map is only loaded when you click “Karte laden” (load map). Only then does your browser connect to Google's servers. In doing so, your IP address, details of your browser and the page visited in particular are transmitted to Google, and Google may set cookies.
A transfer to Google LLC in the USA is possible. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the transfer relies on the European Commission's corresponding adequacy decision.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG), which you give with the click. It is not stored and only applies while the app is open. You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future by closing the app or reloading the page. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.
11. Contact form and email
What data
In the contact form in the “contact” app you enter your name, your email address and your message (up to 300 characters), and confirm your consent to the processing with a mandatory checkbox. Providing this information is voluntary, but without it I cannot answer your enquiry.
Storage and proof of consent
Your enquiry is stored in my database on the server named in section 4. As proof of your consent (Art. 7 (1) GDPR), I also store the time of consent, the version of this privacy policy (currently 2026-09.2) and a truncated hash of your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored for this purpose.
Purpose and legal basis
I process the information to answer your enquiry and, where relevant, to take pre-contractual steps such as preparing a quote. The legal bases are your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR) and pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
Spam protection
The form is protected against automated submissions without any third party: by a computation your browser solves before sending (proof of work), a field that people do not see (honeypot), timing checks, a limit on requests per period, and content checks. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a working contact channel free of abuse (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Notification and email delivery (Brevo)
I am notified of new enquiries by email. Emails relating to your enquiry, including my replies, are sent through the Brevo service of Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany. Replies you send back may be received through Brevo's inbound email service. Brevo acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR.
Contact by email
If you write to me directly at [email protected], I process your message to answer it (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for enquiries about an order, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). This mailbox is provided by Google (Gmail, Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). A transfer to Google LLC in the USA is possible; it relies on the adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
12. Clients and invoices
If an enquiry turns into an order, I process the data the contract needs (such as name, address, email address, the scope of work and billing details) to perform and invoice the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR), and I keep invoices and business records where the law requires me to (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR).
13. Retention periods
- Contact enquiries: deleted no later than 12 months after the last contact, unless a contract follows.
- Proof of consent: for as long as the data it covers is stored, and up to 3 years beyond that (the regular limitation period), so that consent can be proven.
- Invoices and accounting records: 8 years under § 147 AO.
- Commercial and business letters: 6 years under § 257 HGB.
- Server log files: no more than 14 days (section 7).
- Anonymous statistics (sections 7 and 9): 13 months. The daily random value behind the one-way key is deleted after 48 hours at the latest.
- Counted refused requests: 90 days.
Once the relevant period has ended, the data is deleted.
14. Management area
This website contains a private, password-protected management area that only I use. After login, a single strictly necessary session cookie (__Host-kd_session) is set there to keep the session signed in (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). Visitors to the public pages never receive this cookie.
15. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future; this does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before the withdrawal. An informal message to [email protected] is enough.
Where I process data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, www.lda.bayern.de.
16. No automated decision-making
No automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.
17. Changes to this privacy policy
I update this privacy policy when the website, the services it uses or the legal requirements change. The version published here applies. This version is dated September 2026 (version 2026-09.2).
